00:00:07--> 00:00:07

Okay.

00:00:08--> 00:00:10

Tell tell me when tell me when, right,

00:00:11--> 00:00:12

when they're in.

00:00:32--> 00:00:34

All praise are due to Allah, Lord of

00:00:34--> 00:00:35

the worlds.

00:00:35--> 00:00:38

And peace and blessings be constantly showered upon

00:00:38--> 00:00:39

our beloved prophet Muhammad,

00:00:39--> 00:00:41

the master of the first and the last,

00:00:42--> 00:00:44

and his family, his companions, and all those

00:00:44--> 00:00:46

who call to his way and establish his

00:00:46--> 00:00:48

sunnah to the day of judgment.

00:00:49--> 00:00:51

As to what follows, my beloved brothers and

00:00:51--> 00:00:52

sisters, to our friends,

00:00:53--> 00:00:54

to our viewers,

00:00:58--> 00:00:59

We have another opportunity

00:01:00--> 00:01:01

in the month of Ramadan

00:01:02--> 00:01:03

to reflect upon

00:01:03--> 00:01:04

the great blessings

00:01:05--> 00:01:07

that we are getting during this sacred time.

00:01:08--> 00:01:09

And

00:01:09--> 00:01:11

this new Muslim corner,

00:01:12--> 00:01:13

was established

00:01:13--> 00:01:16

in order to give the basic foundations of

00:01:16--> 00:01:16

the faith

00:01:17--> 00:01:19

and not to go into the complications

00:01:20--> 00:01:21

and the different

00:01:21--> 00:01:24

nuances that you get with countries and,

00:01:25--> 00:01:26

with, you know, personalities,

00:01:27--> 00:01:29

but to go back to the sources

00:01:30--> 00:01:31

so you can have

00:01:31--> 00:01:32

the foundation.

00:01:33--> 00:01:36

What is the basis of the Islamic concept?

00:01:36--> 00:01:38

And then from there, you can judge,

00:01:39--> 00:01:41

what you are seeing around you

00:01:41--> 00:01:43

and what you're seeing in the world.

00:01:44--> 00:01:47

Also, it's important for us to understand that

00:01:47--> 00:01:48

fasting in Islam,

00:01:49--> 00:01:50

as we have learned,

00:01:50--> 00:01:52

the essence as Allah told us,

00:01:54--> 00:01:56

in order that you would have consciousness of

00:01:56--> 00:01:57

god.

00:01:57--> 00:01:59

That's the purpose of the fast.

00:02:00--> 00:02:01

So it's not a struggle,

00:02:02--> 00:02:05

a physicals, carnal struggle with food and drink

00:02:06--> 00:02:08

and watching the time and counting the days.

00:02:08--> 00:02:09

It's something

00:02:09--> 00:02:10

higher than this.

00:02:11--> 00:02:12

And

00:02:12--> 00:02:14

with that in mind,

00:02:15--> 00:02:18

we recognize that fasting is not punishment.

00:02:19--> 00:02:21

Fasting is not

00:02:21--> 00:02:22

a test of your ego

00:02:23--> 00:02:25

or to prove that you're better than somebody

00:02:25--> 00:02:25

else,

00:02:26--> 00:02:28

but fasting is to strengthen

00:02:29--> 00:02:30

your relationship with Allah.

00:02:31--> 00:02:32

And at the same time,

00:02:33--> 00:02:35

we're blessed that the fast, if it's done

00:02:35--> 00:02:35

properly,

00:02:36--> 00:02:37

will also strengthen

00:02:38--> 00:02:39

self control.

00:02:40--> 00:02:41

It will strengthen

00:02:43--> 00:02:45

reality in this world

00:02:46--> 00:02:48

that we're not controlled

00:02:48--> 00:02:49

by the world,

00:02:50--> 00:02:51

that we live in the world,

00:02:52--> 00:02:53

but we're not of the world.

00:02:54--> 00:02:56

So if we can do that,

00:02:56--> 00:02:58

we're living in the world, but we're not

00:02:58--> 00:03:00

necessarily controlled by the trends

00:03:00--> 00:03:01

and the fashions

00:03:02--> 00:03:05

and all of the material things, then this

00:03:05--> 00:03:07

in a sense is a type of liberation.

00:03:09--> 00:03:09

So therefore,

00:03:11--> 00:03:11

if

00:03:11--> 00:03:13

a fasting person

00:03:14--> 00:03:15

has to break the fast

00:03:15--> 00:03:17

because they are not well

00:03:18--> 00:03:19

or they're traveling

00:03:20--> 00:03:23

or it is, that time of the month,

00:03:23--> 00:03:24

you know, for a woman,

00:03:24--> 00:03:26

there's nothing wrong with them.

00:03:26--> 00:03:29

It's not a lower kind of fast.

00:03:29--> 00:03:31

It's not about the amount of days,

00:03:32--> 00:03:33

but it's about the sincerity,

00:03:34--> 00:03:36

and it's about fit,

00:03:37--> 00:03:37

understanding.

00:03:39--> 00:03:39

And

00:03:40--> 00:03:41

this,

00:03:41--> 00:03:43

question came about,

00:03:43--> 00:03:45

recently, you know, with a sister,

00:03:45--> 00:03:48

you know, who was really not feeling well,

00:03:48--> 00:03:50

who had high blood pressure,

00:03:51--> 00:03:53

but wanted to fast and felt it. No.

00:03:53--> 00:03:55

If I don't fast, something's wrong.

00:03:56--> 00:03:58

That's not the high standing.

00:03:59--> 00:04:00

It is better for that person

00:04:01--> 00:04:03

to break the fast for a day or

00:04:03--> 00:04:05

2, get themself back together,

00:04:06--> 00:04:08

and then continue the fast in the strongest

00:04:08--> 00:04:09

way they can

00:04:10--> 00:04:12

as opposed to just struggling, you know, with

00:04:12--> 00:04:14

their body really sick

00:04:14--> 00:04:16

and then maybe losing the rest of the

00:04:16--> 00:04:17

month.

00:04:17--> 00:04:19

So fiqh

00:04:19--> 00:04:20

means understanding.

00:04:21--> 00:04:23

It's how you

00:04:23--> 00:04:25

implement your Islam in your life,

00:04:25--> 00:04:27

and that is critical for,

00:04:28--> 00:04:29

Muslims today,

00:04:29--> 00:04:31

especially with

00:04:31--> 00:04:32

so many,

00:04:32--> 00:04:34

deceptions around and so many opinions.

00:04:35--> 00:04:36

We can't forget,

00:04:37--> 00:04:37

however,

00:04:38--> 00:04:40

that the essence of the fast or the

00:04:40--> 00:04:42

fruit of the essence is the blessings of

00:04:42--> 00:04:43

Allah.

00:04:44--> 00:04:45

Prophet

00:04:45--> 00:04:48

Muhammad has told us an authentic hadith,

00:04:54--> 00:04:55

That whoever

00:04:55--> 00:04:56

prays

00:04:56--> 00:04:57

the qiyam,

00:04:58--> 00:04:59

the extra prayers at night,

00:05:00--> 00:05:02

and does this during the nights of Ramadan,

00:05:03--> 00:05:04

cherishing faith

00:05:05--> 00:05:07

and seeking reward from Allah,

00:05:08--> 00:05:10

all of their previous sins,

00:05:10--> 00:05:11

are forgiven.

00:05:12--> 00:05:15

So this is a great blessing. This is

00:05:15--> 00:05:16

a great benefit.

00:05:16--> 00:05:19

This is something higher than just a physical

00:05:19--> 00:05:20

struggle with food,

00:05:21--> 00:05:24

but it actually is a type of, purification,

00:05:25--> 00:05:27

of the actions that we have done,

00:05:28--> 00:05:29

in our lives.

00:05:30--> 00:05:30

And

00:05:31--> 00:05:33

as we have entered into

00:05:33--> 00:05:35

the last 3rd of the month remember we

00:05:35--> 00:05:37

were looking we broke the month down into,

00:05:37--> 00:05:38

like, thirds.

00:05:38--> 00:05:40

So it's the 1st 3rd. There's the middle

00:05:40--> 00:05:42

3rd. In a sense, now we're in the

00:05:42--> 00:05:43

last 3rd

00:05:43--> 00:05:46

of the month. And so in this time,

00:05:46--> 00:05:47

there are special,

00:05:48--> 00:05:48

activities,

00:05:49--> 00:05:50

that Muslims do.

00:05:51--> 00:05:52

There's some special,

00:05:54--> 00:05:54

qualities

00:05:55--> 00:05:56

that you find in,

00:05:57--> 00:05:58

the last 3rd of the month.

00:05:59--> 00:06:01

And one of these activities that you will

00:06:01--> 00:06:02

hear is Eretikaf,

00:06:03--> 00:06:04

and Eretikaf itself,

00:06:05--> 00:06:07

means seclusion,

00:06:08--> 00:06:10

and, it can be done really,

00:06:11--> 00:06:13

at any time in the year. The Islamic

00:06:13--> 00:06:14

way of Eir Tikaf,

00:06:15--> 00:06:17

is, you know, seclusion

00:06:17--> 00:06:18

or isolation,

00:06:19--> 00:06:21

for the purposes of devoting yourself,

00:06:22--> 00:06:23

for worship.

00:06:24--> 00:06:25

And people do

00:06:26--> 00:06:27

in many different ways. You'll find,

00:06:29--> 00:06:30

scholars and,

00:06:31--> 00:06:34

enlightened people during the year will actually take

00:06:34--> 00:06:35

some time off

00:06:36--> 00:06:38

and go into a sort of a seclusion

00:06:38--> 00:06:38

itself,

00:06:39--> 00:06:40

to intensify,

00:06:41--> 00:06:42

their worship.

00:06:42--> 00:06:44

So that is a general iirtikaf

00:06:45--> 00:06:47

that is done. In Ramadan itself,

00:06:47--> 00:06:49

there is a special form of iirtikaf,

00:06:50--> 00:06:52

and that is,

00:06:52--> 00:06:54

seclusion in the masjid.

00:06:55--> 00:06:56

And so this is a sunnah.

00:06:57--> 00:06:59

This is one of the ways of prophet

00:06:59--> 00:06:59

Muhammad.

00:07:00--> 00:07:01

It is not obligatory.

00:07:03--> 00:07:05

Your fast is not diminished if you don't

00:07:05--> 00:07:06

do it,

00:07:07--> 00:07:09

but as a chance to get more blessings.

00:07:09--> 00:07:11

This is about coming closer to Allah,

00:07:12--> 00:07:13

strengthening yourself, and

00:07:14--> 00:07:15

is one of those,

00:07:16--> 00:07:17

ways to do this. And

00:07:18--> 00:07:18

Aisha,

00:07:19--> 00:07:21

the wife of the prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa

00:07:21--> 00:07:23

sallam, she reported that the messenger of Allah

00:07:23--> 00:07:25

used to seclude himself in the Masjid

00:07:26--> 00:07:28

during the last 10 days of Ramadan

00:07:29--> 00:07:30

until he died.

00:07:30--> 00:07:32

So this is the last few years.

00:07:33--> 00:07:36

Then she said, after him, his wives continued

00:07:36--> 00:07:37

the practice.

00:07:38--> 00:07:40

Okay? So, therefore,

00:07:40--> 00:07:43

women are also involved in air TCF.

00:07:44--> 00:07:45

And,

00:07:45--> 00:07:48

again, there's a general form of air TCF

00:07:48--> 00:07:50

that somebody might do. You may even find

00:07:50--> 00:07:52

somebody who does an iatikaf, you know, in

00:07:52--> 00:07:55

their home. But this particular one is in

00:07:55--> 00:07:56

the house of Allah.

00:07:57--> 00:07:59

Because within the Masjid,

00:08:00--> 00:08:02

there are active the prayers are there, and

00:08:02--> 00:08:03

it's it's a heightened,

00:08:04--> 00:08:06

place, and and this is where the sunnah

00:08:06--> 00:08:06

is.

00:08:07--> 00:08:08

So to perform

00:08:08--> 00:08:09

the,

00:08:10--> 00:08:11

again, this is not,

00:08:12--> 00:08:13

a type of,

00:08:14--> 00:08:14

seclusion

00:08:15--> 00:08:17

that you find in some religions, monkism,

00:08:18--> 00:08:21

where the monks go and they seclude themselves.

00:08:21--> 00:08:23

They're torturing themselves.

00:08:24--> 00:08:26

No. This is not. You're actually carrying out

00:08:27--> 00:08:29

some of your regular body functions. So it's

00:08:29--> 00:08:30

permissible

00:08:31--> 00:08:33

in. So for instance, there's a masjid there's

00:08:33--> 00:08:34

a masjid here.

00:08:34--> 00:08:35

Okay? Now,

00:08:38--> 00:08:39

Islamic Institute

00:08:42--> 00:08:44

not is not necessarily was originally

00:08:44--> 00:08:46

like a a a combination

00:08:46--> 00:08:47

of

00:08:47--> 00:08:48

a masjid

00:08:49--> 00:08:53

and madrasa classes and also gymnasium, and it's

00:08:53--> 00:08:54

like a community center.

00:08:55--> 00:08:57

Okay. But you do have some places

00:08:58--> 00:08:59

that have a section

00:09:00--> 00:09:02

or, that is a a a house

00:09:03--> 00:09:04

pure house of worship.

00:09:05--> 00:09:06

And so what will happen

00:09:06--> 00:09:08

inside if somebody's doing is

00:09:10--> 00:09:10

that,

00:09:11--> 00:09:13

if you wanna do the complete 10,

00:09:14--> 00:09:17

okay, then the person would have actually entered

00:09:17--> 00:09:18

last night

00:09:20--> 00:09:20

because,

00:09:21--> 00:09:23

or as Friday night, actually. They would have

00:09:23--> 00:09:24

entered Friday night

00:09:25--> 00:09:27

because remember that that's when the 10 days

00:09:27--> 00:09:28

started.

00:09:29--> 00:09:30

And they would do from Friday night all

00:09:30--> 00:09:33

the way until when Eid is actually,

00:09:34--> 00:09:34

announced,

00:09:35--> 00:09:36

right, at the end of the month.

00:09:37--> 00:09:39

So while the person is in this area,

00:09:39--> 00:09:42

and the prophet used to make a type

00:09:42--> 00:09:44

of tent type of area, just take some

00:09:44--> 00:09:47

cloth and, you know, block off a certain

00:09:47--> 00:09:47

area,

00:09:49--> 00:09:51

and you sort of settle like an area

00:09:51--> 00:09:52

of the masjid.

00:09:52--> 00:09:54

Of course, this is based upon

00:09:55--> 00:09:57

the the Masjid that you're in. There's rules,

00:09:58--> 00:09:59

and, you have to keep it clean. And

00:09:59--> 00:10:01

when prayer comes, you can't block people from

00:10:01--> 00:10:04

coming in and out, you know, to prayer.

00:10:05--> 00:10:07

Many masjids, what they'll do is they'll even

00:10:07--> 00:10:09

have a section of the masjid for those

00:10:09--> 00:10:10

who are doing.

00:10:11--> 00:10:13

So they can go into that section,

00:10:14--> 00:10:15

and then they can set up

00:10:16--> 00:10:18

their seclusion there. And while you're in air

00:10:18--> 00:10:21

tikaf, it is permitted to comb your hair,

00:10:22--> 00:10:22

to trim,

00:10:23--> 00:10:24

or to groom,

00:10:25--> 00:10:27

to clip your nails, to take baths,

00:10:28--> 00:10:31

to change your clothes, to use scents.

00:10:32--> 00:10:33

Okay? So this is not,

00:10:34--> 00:10:34

torture,

00:10:36--> 00:10:38

you know, but you obviously are not carrying

00:10:38--> 00:10:40

out your normal activities like you would,

00:10:41--> 00:10:42

at your home.

00:10:42--> 00:10:44

K. So these things are permissible.

00:10:45--> 00:10:47

Things that can break your a tikaf

00:10:48--> 00:10:51

is if you leave the Masjid area,

00:10:52--> 00:10:54

you just feel like going out, you know,

00:10:54--> 00:10:56

to Tim Hortons and, you know, okay. We're

00:10:56--> 00:10:58

not having Tim Hortons. We're fasting.

00:10:58--> 00:11:00

But even at night, right,

00:11:01--> 00:11:02

you stay in there at night.

00:11:03--> 00:11:05

So even after the fast is broken, you

00:11:05--> 00:11:07

don't go out to to to Timmy's.

00:11:08--> 00:11:09

Right? You stay

00:11:10--> 00:11:11

in the masjid.

00:11:12--> 00:11:15

Okay? And so, normally, either the masjid would

00:11:16--> 00:11:18

provide something for the people or the family

00:11:18--> 00:11:19

of the people

00:11:19--> 00:11:20

who are making Ertikaf,

00:11:21--> 00:11:23

you know, would provide. Or the people who

00:11:23--> 00:11:24

are doing Ertikaf

00:11:25--> 00:11:27

can sorta make a little jamak,

00:11:27--> 00:11:29

and then they will prepare their own food

00:11:29--> 00:11:30

and, you know, whatever.

00:11:31--> 00:11:32

But, obviously, it is not

00:11:33--> 00:11:34

a major iftar.

00:11:35--> 00:11:38

This is is gonna be something, simple. So

00:11:38--> 00:11:40

going outside the Masjid,

00:11:41--> 00:11:44

for other than answering the call of nature,

00:11:44--> 00:11:45

going to the bathroom.

00:11:46--> 00:11:49

Right? Or fulfilling some pressing needs. The The

00:11:49--> 00:11:51

person may have to get food and come

00:11:51--> 00:11:53

back, you know, whatever. Somebody may be really

00:11:53--> 00:11:56

sick, and you could actually visit them and

00:11:56--> 00:11:58

come right back. You can't stop and, you

00:11:58--> 00:12:00

know, go to your job and do something

00:12:00--> 00:12:01

on the way

00:12:01--> 00:12:03

because you made the intention for seclusion.

00:12:04--> 00:12:06

K? So we're talking about iatikaf,

00:12:07--> 00:12:09

which is seclusion in the Masjid,

00:12:10--> 00:12:12

especially in the last 10 days.

00:12:13--> 00:12:15

Okay? So these things are permissible,

00:12:16--> 00:12:17

during this time.

00:12:17--> 00:12:19

Also, marital relations,

00:12:20--> 00:12:21

are not permissible

00:12:22--> 00:12:24

This time, you know, loss of sanity, if

00:12:24--> 00:12:27

a person lost their sanity, then hereticaff is

00:12:27--> 00:12:28

over.

00:12:29--> 00:12:29

Right?

00:12:30--> 00:12:33

If menstruation came, if her sister sister was

00:12:33--> 00:12:35

making ear to calf and her monthly courses

00:12:35--> 00:12:38

came, then then she stops or postnatal bleeding,

00:12:39--> 00:12:40

then that would end the ear to calf,

00:12:40--> 00:12:41

and then they would leave,

00:12:42--> 00:12:43

the ear to calf itself.

00:12:44--> 00:12:45

Okay? So

00:12:45--> 00:12:48

maybe somebody can't do it for

00:12:48--> 00:12:49

the total time.

00:12:50--> 00:12:52

What some people might do is

00:12:52--> 00:12:54

they might do it on the odd nights.

00:12:54--> 00:12:56

They might do it on the 27th night.

00:12:57--> 00:12:59

They might stay there all night until the

00:12:59--> 00:12:59

next morning.

00:13:00--> 00:13:01

But when you make,

00:13:01--> 00:13:04

you gotta make intention to make. So you're

00:13:04--> 00:13:06

making attention to Allah. Oh, Allah, I'm dedicating

00:13:07--> 00:13:07

this time

00:13:08--> 00:13:10

from this point to that point,

00:13:10--> 00:13:12

you know, for my seclusion.

00:13:14--> 00:13:16

And that means total seclusion, and and this

00:13:16--> 00:13:18

cell phone that we have,

00:13:18--> 00:13:20

you know, you probably better turn this thing

00:13:20--> 00:13:21

off.

00:13:22--> 00:13:24

And I don't care what's happening with the

00:13:24--> 00:13:26

the Raptors or the Blue Jays. I don't

00:13:26--> 00:13:26

care.

00:13:27--> 00:13:28

You you have to wait till after you're

00:13:28--> 00:13:30

at the cap to find out who won

00:13:30--> 00:13:30

the game.

00:13:31--> 00:13:33

Don't get involved in dunya. Right?

00:13:34--> 00:13:36

There's no dunya in this.

00:13:37--> 00:13:39

Right? It's a way to, like, really strengthen

00:13:39--> 00:13:39

yourself.

00:13:40--> 00:13:41

And some people

00:13:41--> 00:13:43

use this as a way to really

00:13:44--> 00:13:45

build up their faith,

00:13:46--> 00:13:48

you know, and you can really strengthen yourself,

00:13:49--> 00:13:50

during this time.

00:13:50--> 00:13:52

Okay. So this is,

00:13:52--> 00:13:54

one of the actions that we do in

00:13:54--> 00:13:55

the month is.

00:13:56--> 00:13:58

I wanna open the floor for any questions

00:13:58--> 00:14:01

that anybody may have concerning. Yes? I have

00:14:01--> 00:14:02

2 questions. Yeah.

00:14:02--> 00:14:03

So, like,

00:14:04--> 00:14:06

Roland, for, like, the past 2 or 3

00:14:06--> 00:14:08

years, I mean, for students, I've been following

00:14:08--> 00:14:10

up to take exams here. Right? So I've

00:14:10--> 00:14:13

been seeing some videos where some students, they

00:14:13--> 00:14:14

would take, like, their

00:14:22--> 00:14:23

To be honest,

00:14:24--> 00:14:27

you know it's it's it's really important to

00:14:27--> 00:14:27

do your studies

00:14:28--> 00:14:30

but this is seclusion. This is a bad

00:14:30--> 00:14:31

that this is making

00:14:32--> 00:14:34

prayer. This is making dua. This is reading

00:14:34--> 00:14:35

Quran. This is doing.

00:14:36--> 00:14:40

It's not things connected to the material world.

00:14:40--> 00:14:42

And the studies is part of our material

00:14:42--> 00:14:43

world,

00:14:43--> 00:14:46

so we're not connected with that. So this

00:14:46--> 00:14:47

is a special seclusion.

00:14:55--> 00:14:57

Well, you know, the the the scholars are

00:14:57--> 00:14:59

dealing with all types of issues. We're talking

00:14:59--> 00:15:00

about a whole society.

00:15:01--> 00:15:03

And there there there are cases

00:15:04--> 00:15:05

where people,

00:15:06--> 00:15:08

lose their their their sanity.

00:15:08--> 00:15:10

And, we have a lot of,

00:15:11--> 00:15:13

mental health issues today.

00:15:14--> 00:15:16

There's a good percentage of people in this

00:15:16--> 00:15:17

society

00:15:17--> 00:15:19

who have mental health issues.

00:15:20--> 00:15:22

And sometimes when you intensify like this,

00:15:23--> 00:15:24

it can bring on,

00:15:25--> 00:15:26

something,

00:15:26--> 00:15:27

you know, that's really,

00:15:29--> 00:15:30

really bad.

00:15:31--> 00:15:32

You know, I was

00:15:33--> 00:15:35

taking care of a masjid at one point,

00:15:36--> 00:15:38

you know, and, there was a brother there

00:15:38--> 00:15:40

and he lost it. And he was just

00:15:40--> 00:15:41

moving around the masjid

00:15:42--> 00:15:44

from side to side, you know, talking and

00:15:44--> 00:15:45

going on.

00:15:45--> 00:15:47

And so we had to call a Muslim

00:15:47--> 00:15:47

psychiatrist.

00:15:49--> 00:15:50

You know, like, they had to, like, sedate

00:15:50--> 00:15:51

him,

00:15:52--> 00:15:54

you know, in order to, you know, calm

00:15:54--> 00:15:55

him down, and

00:15:56--> 00:15:58

that was it for his time.

00:15:58--> 00:15:59

Again, you know,

00:16:00--> 00:16:01

this is not a punishment.

00:16:02--> 00:16:04

You don't have to do this.

00:16:05--> 00:16:06

You're just as good of a Muslim

00:16:07--> 00:16:08

if you don't do it.

00:16:09--> 00:16:12

Some people do just to show off

00:16:13--> 00:16:15

so that he's actually worse than the people

00:16:15--> 00:16:16

who don't do the.

00:16:17--> 00:16:19

Because remember, he did it for Ria, right,

00:16:19--> 00:16:20

to show off.

00:16:22--> 00:16:25

Okay. So the seclusion part is really important.

00:16:26--> 00:16:27

That's the concept.

00:16:28--> 00:16:29

Now any other,

00:16:29--> 00:16:32

questions that anybody has concerning air decaf?

00:16:35--> 00:16:36

So as we go on now, we'll go

00:16:36--> 00:16:38

on to another important,

00:16:38--> 00:16:39

activity,

00:16:40--> 00:16:41

and that is.

00:16:43--> 00:16:43

And,

00:16:44--> 00:16:44

this,

00:16:45--> 00:16:46

Laylatul Qadr,

00:16:47--> 00:16:50

the Qadr itself means glory, power, status, you

00:16:50--> 00:16:51

know, destiny.

00:16:52--> 00:16:53

And, in the 97th

00:16:54--> 00:16:55

chapter of the Quran,

00:16:56--> 00:16:56

Allah

00:16:57--> 00:16:58

tells us

00:17:14--> 00:17:17

So it's saying that the Quran is saying,

00:17:17--> 00:17:20

verily, we have revealed it, meaning the Quran,

00:17:21--> 00:17:23

during the night of

00:17:24--> 00:17:24

Qadir.

00:17:25--> 00:17:26

It could be power.

00:17:26--> 00:17:27

It could be destiny.

00:17:28--> 00:17:29

Right?

00:17:30--> 00:17:32

What would tell you what the night of,

00:17:32--> 00:17:35

of Qadir is? The night of is better

00:17:35--> 00:17:36

than a 1000

00:17:37--> 00:17:37

months.

00:17:39--> 00:17:41

So this time is better. The blessings you

00:17:41--> 00:17:43

get during this time

00:17:43--> 00:17:46

is better than a 1000 months. Some mathematicians

00:17:46--> 00:17:47

say 83.3,

00:17:48--> 00:17:49

you know, years.

00:17:50--> 00:17:51

You know? I mean, we don't wanna get

00:17:51--> 00:17:52

into numbers. Right?

00:17:53--> 00:17:55

Better than a 1000 months,

00:17:56--> 00:17:57

the blessings of this time.

00:17:58--> 00:18:00

The angels will descend therein,

00:18:01--> 00:18:02

and the spirit.

00:18:03--> 00:18:05

And Arora here, the scholars have said this

00:18:05--> 00:18:06

is the angel, Jibril.

00:18:07--> 00:18:10

So they will descend with all sorts of

00:18:10--> 00:18:11

decrees.

00:18:12--> 00:18:15

There will be peace till the break of

00:18:15--> 00:18:16

dawn.

00:18:17--> 00:18:19

Okay. So this is a time when

00:18:19--> 00:18:20

destinies,

00:18:20--> 00:18:21

many of the destinies,

00:18:22--> 00:18:24

things that are written in the,

00:18:25--> 00:18:26

you know, in the ultimate,

00:18:27--> 00:18:28

book of of destinies,

00:18:29--> 00:18:30

coming down into

00:18:31--> 00:18:31

the lower,

00:18:32--> 00:18:34

universes coming actually,

00:18:34--> 00:18:37

you know, taking place. It's coming down.

00:18:38--> 00:18:39

So so this is a very, very,

00:18:41--> 00:18:41

auspicious

00:18:41--> 00:18:42

serious night.

00:18:43--> 00:18:44

And

00:18:45--> 00:18:47

the heaviness of the night

00:18:48--> 00:18:50

really is on a spiritual level.

00:18:51--> 00:18:52

So even though

00:18:53--> 00:18:55

it says there will be peace until the

00:18:55--> 00:18:56

break of dawn,

00:18:56--> 00:18:59

human beings are gonna continue to bomb and

00:18:59--> 00:19:01

kill and destroy as you see this world,

00:19:01--> 00:19:01

right,

00:19:02--> 00:19:02

And do,

00:19:03--> 00:19:06

negative things. But on a spiritual level,

00:19:08--> 00:19:09

this there is peace.

00:19:10--> 00:19:11

And some people,

00:19:11--> 00:19:13

some scholars can even,

00:19:14--> 00:19:16

they can sense.

00:19:19--> 00:19:21

You have to be really outside of the

00:19:21--> 00:19:22

urban areas, though.

00:19:22--> 00:19:24

Like, the cities, the lights, and all the

00:19:24--> 00:19:27

things going you probably have to be out

00:19:27--> 00:19:29

of the urban areas, maybe in a mountainous

00:19:29--> 00:19:30

area or a desert

00:19:31--> 00:19:32

or by a seashore somewhere,

00:19:33--> 00:19:34

you know, where you're actually,

00:19:35--> 00:19:36

relating to the universe.

00:19:37--> 00:19:38

And some scholars

00:19:39--> 00:19:41

claim or they feel they can actually sense

00:19:41--> 00:19:42

it,

00:19:43--> 00:19:44

on a spiritual level,

00:19:45--> 00:19:47

which is Laylatul Qadr.

00:19:48--> 00:19:48

And, originally,

00:19:49--> 00:19:51

this was the 27th.

00:19:52--> 00:19:54

So this is a very important,

00:19:55--> 00:19:57

night because the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon

00:19:57--> 00:19:58

him, before

00:19:59--> 00:20:00

he became a prophet,

00:20:01--> 00:20:03

he used to do a type of seclusion.

00:20:04--> 00:20:07

And seclusion was being done by certain individuals

00:20:07--> 00:20:10

within Arab society at that time.

00:20:10--> 00:20:13

And he used to seclude himself in a

00:20:13--> 00:20:15

mountain of light in a mountain.

00:20:15--> 00:20:17

He would go up into the mountain, climb

00:20:17--> 00:20:18

up there,

00:20:18--> 00:20:20

and he would spend time by himself.

00:20:21--> 00:20:24

And, this is a rugged territory too. It's

00:20:24--> 00:20:25

not a nice

00:20:25--> 00:20:28

nicely made cave with a door like Hilton

00:20:28--> 00:20:28

Hotel.

00:20:29--> 00:20:31

You have to climb up this mountain and

00:20:31--> 00:20:32

go into a passageway,

00:20:33--> 00:20:34

and you're by yourself.

00:20:35--> 00:20:37

And his wife and his,

00:20:38--> 00:20:40

companions, they would bring

00:20:40--> 00:20:41

some food

00:20:42--> 00:20:43

to him. He would go down, and he

00:20:43--> 00:20:45

would just get this and go back, and

00:20:45--> 00:20:46

he was really

00:20:46--> 00:20:48

meditating in a sense,

00:20:49--> 00:20:51

because he had this strong feeling

00:20:51--> 00:20:53

of getting away from idol worship

00:20:54--> 00:20:56

and getting away from tribalism

00:20:58--> 00:20:59

and oppression,

00:21:00--> 00:21:01

the weak being oppressed.

00:21:02--> 00:21:04

He had this feeling that he needed to

00:21:04--> 00:21:06

be lifted from this.

00:21:06--> 00:21:08

So he secluded himself

00:21:08--> 00:21:10

and prayed to the creator,

00:21:11--> 00:21:12

not knowing

00:21:12--> 00:21:15

anything about Allah, but having that feeling inside

00:21:15--> 00:21:16

of himself.

00:21:17--> 00:21:19

There were certain people in, Mecca at the

00:21:19--> 00:21:21

time, at the time

00:21:22--> 00:21:24

who did believe in in God. They were

00:21:24--> 00:21:25

not idol worshipers.

00:21:27--> 00:21:28

And,

00:21:28--> 00:21:31

Khadija, you know, his his wife, Warakah bin

00:21:31--> 00:21:33

Nofal, was one of them, and these people

00:21:33--> 00:21:34

were,

00:21:35--> 00:21:37

Honafah. They were pure type of people.

00:21:38--> 00:21:39

So there were some people who were believing

00:21:39--> 00:21:41

in God, but there was no organized,

00:21:43--> 00:21:44

religion there. The yahood,

00:21:46--> 00:21:46

who had,

00:21:47--> 00:21:50

the the, Benny Israel people, they were in

00:21:50--> 00:21:50

Medina.

00:21:51--> 00:21:53

So they were but but in Mecca itself,

00:21:54--> 00:21:56

they were not people who really had

00:21:56--> 00:21:58

a strong organized tradition

00:21:59--> 00:22:00

of the belief in in one god.

00:22:01--> 00:22:02

So the prophet

00:22:03--> 00:22:04

had these feelings.

00:22:04--> 00:22:06

And then on the 27th night,

00:22:07--> 00:22:09

a a force came to him,

00:22:10--> 00:22:11

and he felt this force,

00:22:13--> 00:22:14

enter into the cave area, and he was,

00:22:14--> 00:22:16

like, you know,

00:22:16--> 00:22:18

smothered, like,

00:22:18--> 00:22:19

by the force.

00:22:20--> 00:22:22

And then he heard a voice saying,

00:22:23--> 00:22:24

saying to read

00:22:25--> 00:22:28

or recite because he didn't read, like, in

00:22:28--> 00:22:30

the sense of reading books.

00:22:30--> 00:22:32

Right? So it meant sort of like reciting.

00:22:34--> 00:22:37

Right? Recite. And he said, you know, Like,

00:22:37--> 00:22:38

I I'm not a person

00:22:39--> 00:22:41

who reads or recites and these things. I

00:22:41--> 00:22:42

I don't do that.

00:22:43--> 00:22:44

Right? And

00:22:45--> 00:22:46

this happened to him 3 times

00:22:47--> 00:22:48

until

00:22:48--> 00:22:50

the Quran was revealed.

00:22:56--> 00:22:58

So these verses are revealed, read in the

00:22:58--> 00:23:00

name of your lord who has created he

00:23:00--> 00:23:01

created,

00:23:01--> 00:23:03

humanity from,

00:23:03--> 00:23:04

single clot.

00:23:06--> 00:23:07

So okay. So

00:23:07--> 00:23:10

this was he said he felt the prophet

00:23:10--> 00:23:13

felt it. It was, like, imprinted on his

00:23:13--> 00:23:13

chest.

00:23:14--> 00:23:16

So it wasn't just words that went in

00:23:16--> 00:23:17

and went out.

00:23:18--> 00:23:20

It became, like, part of his being,

00:23:21--> 00:23:24

this recitation that was happening.

00:23:25--> 00:23:27

So this is and and, of course, he

00:23:27--> 00:23:27

was,

00:23:28--> 00:23:29

he was afraid.

00:23:30--> 00:23:32

He didn't know because

00:23:33--> 00:23:35

they did believe in the jinn.

00:23:35--> 00:23:39

They believed in creatures, demons of smokeless fire.

00:23:41--> 00:23:43

That was and even the word

00:23:44--> 00:23:46

was an Arabic word.

00:23:46--> 00:23:48

You know? So they did believe in these,

00:23:48--> 00:23:49

demon spirits,

00:23:50--> 00:23:52

so he wasn't sure.

00:23:53--> 00:23:55

Okay. And then he left the mountain and

00:23:55--> 00:23:55

went back,

00:23:56--> 00:23:58

to his home, and he was literally,

00:23:58--> 00:23:59

trembling

00:24:00--> 00:24:02

trembling from fear.

00:24:03--> 00:24:06

And he told Khadija, his wife, may Allah

00:24:06--> 00:24:08

be pleased with her what had happened, and

00:24:08--> 00:24:10

she covered him up. She was very wise,

00:24:11--> 00:24:12

intelligent woman, very intelligent.

00:24:13--> 00:24:15

And she covered him up and,

00:24:16--> 00:24:17

she,

00:24:17--> 00:24:20

strengthened him, say that this could not be

00:24:20--> 00:24:20

a demon

00:24:21--> 00:24:23

because you are a good person.

00:24:24--> 00:24:26

And, you know, she solidified

00:24:27--> 00:24:27

the faith.

00:24:28--> 00:24:29

This is really important

00:24:30--> 00:24:32

because some people have the wrong impression about

00:24:32--> 00:24:34

the role of women in Islam. Right?

00:24:35--> 00:24:36

What is the role of women in Islam?

00:24:37--> 00:24:39

That men are, you know, the major force

00:24:39--> 00:24:41

in 90% of the force.

00:24:41--> 00:24:44

This was a woman, not a man,

00:24:45--> 00:24:45

who strengthened,

00:24:47--> 00:24:47

his faith,

00:24:48--> 00:24:52

and solidified him in this dangerous time

00:24:53--> 00:24:54

that he was in.

00:24:54--> 00:24:55

And so,

00:24:58--> 00:25:00

the angels stayed away for a while,

00:25:01--> 00:25:01

and the prophet

00:25:02--> 00:25:03

actually felt,

00:25:05--> 00:25:07

a little bit lost in a sense,

00:25:07--> 00:25:09

but then it started to return.

00:25:10--> 00:25:12

Okay? And so this is how revelation begins.

00:25:12--> 00:25:13

This is the Quran itself.

00:25:14--> 00:25:16

So the Quran is not a book.

00:25:17--> 00:25:19

It was not in a book form.

00:25:19--> 00:25:21

It was a series of revelations,

00:25:23--> 00:25:24

oral,

00:25:25--> 00:25:26

revelations

00:25:27--> 00:25:28

that were memorized.

00:25:29--> 00:25:31

And then later on, after the death of

00:25:31--> 00:25:33

the prophet, peace be upon him, it was

00:25:33--> 00:25:34

put into a book form,

00:25:34--> 00:25:35

written form.

00:25:36--> 00:25:38

But 100 of people and then 1,000 had

00:25:38--> 00:25:39

memorized the whole book.

00:25:40--> 00:25:43

And then some people were writing, because there

00:25:43--> 00:25:44

were a few people,

00:25:44--> 00:25:46

about 20 or so, who actually began to

00:25:46--> 00:25:47

write Arabic.

00:25:48--> 00:25:50

So Arabic, it was an oral culture,

00:25:52--> 00:25:55

and but they started to write,

00:25:56--> 00:25:57

basic forms,

00:25:58--> 00:26:00

you know, to express the Arabic.

00:26:00--> 00:26:03

And that developed over the centuries

00:26:03--> 00:26:05

into what we have today

00:26:05--> 00:26:07

with the written form of Arabic script.

00:26:08--> 00:26:12

So this is when contact was first made.

00:26:13--> 00:26:13

Okay?

00:26:14--> 00:26:15

1st contact.

00:26:16--> 00:26:19

So this is an auspicious occasion. This is

00:26:19--> 00:26:20

spiritually,

00:26:21--> 00:26:23

the greatest occasion.

00:26:23--> 00:26:26

It is the night of power and destiny,

00:26:27--> 00:26:28

and something

00:26:28--> 00:26:30

has remained of this night.

00:26:30--> 00:26:31

There's a residue

00:26:32--> 00:26:34

that is actually remaining of the night.

00:26:36--> 00:26:37

And so we are blessed

00:26:38--> 00:26:41

that we can actually still benefit from

00:26:41--> 00:26:43

the residue of this night.

00:26:44--> 00:26:44

To the point

00:26:45--> 00:26:48

where Allah said, it's better if you catch

00:26:48--> 00:26:50

this night, if you can catch on to

00:26:50--> 00:26:51

the power.

00:26:52--> 00:26:54

It's better than a 1000 months.

00:26:55--> 00:26:57

So this is really worth,

00:26:58--> 00:26:59

trying to put in some effort,

00:27:01--> 00:27:03

to do. We have a lot of distractions,

00:27:04--> 00:27:06

here within this this in this society.

00:27:07--> 00:27:09

That is another reason why people go into

00:27:09--> 00:27:10

Eir Tikaf.

00:27:11--> 00:27:13

Because if you're in Eir Tikaf for those

00:27:13--> 00:27:14

10 days

00:27:15--> 00:27:17

and you're there for the nights,

00:27:18--> 00:27:21

then you'll definitely catch it because you're there.

00:27:22--> 00:27:25

Okay. So that's another reason why somebody wants

00:27:26--> 00:27:28

to be able to benefit from this time.

00:27:29--> 00:27:30

But, otherwise,

00:27:31--> 00:27:33

it was known as the 27th.

00:27:34--> 00:27:35

The 27th.

00:27:37--> 00:27:38

And the prophet

00:27:38--> 00:27:39

said,

00:27:45--> 00:27:47

Whoever prays during the night of power in

00:27:47--> 00:27:49

good faith and seeking the reward of Allah

00:27:49--> 00:27:51

will have all of his previous sins,

00:27:52--> 00:27:53

forgiven by Allah.

00:27:54--> 00:27:56

K. So another important reason.

00:27:57--> 00:27:59

So we seek it out. Now

00:28:00--> 00:28:02

there's different reports, but in one report, it

00:28:02--> 00:28:04

is it is it is said

00:28:04--> 00:28:06

that they used to seek out the night

00:28:06--> 00:28:08

of power on the 27th night.

00:28:09--> 00:28:11

And that still is the biggest night where

00:28:11--> 00:28:13

Muslims seek it. However,

00:28:14--> 00:28:15

in one report,

00:28:15--> 00:28:16

there was some

00:28:16--> 00:28:19

difference of opinion. The prophet, the way the

00:28:19--> 00:28:22

masjid was set up, his house, Aisha's house

00:28:22--> 00:28:23

was right

00:28:24--> 00:28:25

on the masjid.

00:28:25--> 00:28:27

So his door, he would enter into the

00:28:27--> 00:28:28

masjid.

00:28:29--> 00:28:31

So he could hear things

00:28:31--> 00:28:33

from his house, what was going on in

00:28:33--> 00:28:34

the Masjid.

00:28:34--> 00:28:37

And there was some arguing and difference of

00:28:37--> 00:28:37

opinion

00:28:38--> 00:28:40

going on amongst the companions.

00:28:40--> 00:28:43

This is human beings. Right? So we're they're

00:28:43--> 00:28:44

arguing. Right?

00:28:46--> 00:28:47

And after this, the prophet

00:28:48--> 00:28:49

said to his companions

00:28:50--> 00:28:51

that

00:28:52--> 00:28:53

probably as a result of this,

00:28:54--> 00:28:57

you have to seek the night of power

00:28:58--> 00:29:01

on the odd nights in the last 10

00:29:01--> 00:29:02

days.

00:29:03--> 00:29:06

Okay? So odd nights of the last 10

00:29:06--> 00:29:06

days.

00:29:07--> 00:29:08

This is when you have to seek the

00:29:08--> 00:29:09

night of power.

00:29:09--> 00:29:11

So not necessarily

00:29:11--> 00:29:12

coming on the 27th.

00:29:14--> 00:29:15

Although you'll see

00:29:16--> 00:29:19

Muslims packing the masjids, you'll see people. And

00:29:19--> 00:29:22

still many scholars say that still is the

00:29:22--> 00:29:22

strongest,

00:29:23--> 00:29:26

but it's not necessarily the night of power.

00:29:26--> 00:29:29

And those who have a spiritual eye,

00:29:30--> 00:29:32

they say, and Allah knows best, can sort

00:29:32--> 00:29:34

of sense the night of power, but Allah

00:29:34--> 00:29:35

knows best.

00:29:37--> 00:29:38

So it could be

00:29:41--> 00:29:42

the 21st

00:29:42--> 00:29:43

night,

00:29:44--> 00:29:44

the 23rd,

00:29:45--> 00:29:47

the 25th night,

00:29:48--> 00:29:49

the 27th night,

00:29:49--> 00:29:51

or the 29th. And

00:29:53--> 00:29:55

during that time,

00:29:56--> 00:29:57

there is a special dua

00:29:58--> 00:29:59

that is made

00:30:01--> 00:30:02

where we are saying

00:30:06--> 00:30:07

to.

00:30:08--> 00:30:11

All that you are all forgiving and generous.

00:30:11--> 00:30:13

You love to forgive, so forgive me.

00:30:14--> 00:30:15

That is the most

00:30:16--> 00:30:17

looks like a simple prayer.

00:30:18--> 00:30:20

It is a simple prayer, but it's sincerity.

00:30:20--> 00:30:21

Right?

00:30:22--> 00:30:23

And that's important to understand.

00:30:24--> 00:30:26

The best type of prayer is with quality,

00:30:26--> 00:30:27

not quantity.

00:30:29--> 00:30:30

Sincerity of heart

00:30:31--> 00:30:33

and really connecting it with yourself.

00:30:35--> 00:30:37

Connecting you with people who are really sick.

00:30:37--> 00:30:39

People who are really in need.

00:30:40--> 00:30:42

Right? To to to be practical with,

00:30:42--> 00:30:43

you know,

00:30:43--> 00:30:45

you know, prayers during this night

00:30:46--> 00:30:47

because if this is accepted,

00:30:48--> 00:30:49

it's very important.

00:30:50--> 00:30:51

So the question is,

00:30:53--> 00:30:54

to try to uncomplicate

00:30:54--> 00:30:56

things for you,

00:30:57--> 00:30:58

what are the odd nights

00:31:00--> 00:31:00

for us?

00:31:02--> 00:31:02

And

00:31:03--> 00:31:04

that would be,

00:31:05--> 00:31:07

Saturday, March 30th.

00:31:09--> 00:31:11

So, unfortunately, and I mentioned it last week,

00:31:11--> 00:31:13

that was last night.

00:31:14--> 00:31:15

Okay?

00:31:16--> 00:31:17

The next that was the 21st.

00:31:18--> 00:31:20

So the next night would be Monday.

00:31:21--> 00:31:22

So it's Monday coming.

00:31:23--> 00:31:25

Right? That's April 1st. That's 23rd.

00:31:27--> 00:31:29

So try to do something. Even if you

00:31:29--> 00:31:31

can't come to the to the masjid for

00:31:31--> 00:31:32

whatever it is,

00:31:33--> 00:31:34

then try to,

00:31:34--> 00:31:35

get up at night,

00:31:36--> 00:31:38

do something special on that night,

00:31:38--> 00:31:40

Make special prayers

00:31:41--> 00:31:42

on that night.

00:31:42--> 00:31:44

Make the most sincere of the prayers that

00:31:44--> 00:31:45

you can do

00:31:46--> 00:31:47

or any type of Ibadah,

00:31:47--> 00:31:50

your giving, your whatever you can do on

00:31:50--> 00:31:51

on on that day.

00:31:52--> 00:31:53

Wednesday.

00:31:55--> 00:31:57

Wednesday, April 3rd is 25th,

00:31:59--> 00:32:01

and Friday, that's the big night.

00:32:02--> 00:32:04

And it turns out that Friday's,

00:32:04--> 00:32:06

now is Jumuah too. Right?

00:32:06--> 00:32:08

So this place is this place is gonna

00:32:08--> 00:32:09

be packed.

00:32:10--> 00:32:11

And I lived in Cape Town,

00:32:12--> 00:32:15

which is a really unique community. It's a

00:32:15--> 00:32:16

well,

00:32:16--> 00:32:19

well kept secret. Like, it's in South Africa,

00:32:19--> 00:32:20

a 150 Masjids.

00:32:21--> 00:32:24

It's a, you know, concentrated Muslim community.

00:32:24--> 00:32:25

Because during apartheid,

00:32:25--> 00:32:28

they forced every racial group and religious group

00:32:28--> 00:32:29

into certain areas.

00:32:30--> 00:32:32

And that was a terrible thing to separate

00:32:32--> 00:32:35

people. Right? But for Muslims, it turned out

00:32:35--> 00:32:36

to be good because we're all in the

00:32:36--> 00:32:37

same area.

00:32:38--> 00:32:40

I moved into an area

00:32:40--> 00:32:41

in Cape Town

00:32:42--> 00:32:44

where 90% of the people in this area

00:32:44--> 00:32:45

were Muslims.

00:32:46--> 00:32:47

90%.

00:32:48--> 00:32:49

Adan is outside.

00:32:51--> 00:32:53

Halal shops. It's like you're in the Muslim

00:32:53--> 00:32:54

world.

00:32:56--> 00:32:57

Okay? So

00:32:58--> 00:33:00

on 27th, it's a big night,

00:33:01--> 00:33:03

and everybody's out and they're there, and, you

00:33:03--> 00:33:05

know, they have this drink,

00:33:05--> 00:33:05

faluda.

00:33:06--> 00:33:07

I guess those of you who would do

00:33:07--> 00:33:09

speaking, you know faluda. Right? It's a pink

00:33:10--> 00:33:13

drink. It's milk and it's really nice sweet

00:33:13--> 00:33:13

drink.

00:33:14--> 00:33:16

And so they would make special, you know,

00:33:16--> 00:33:18

faluda and special samosas and

00:33:18--> 00:33:21

some boozas and different things and, you know,

00:33:21--> 00:33:24

but it reached the point where it became,

00:33:24--> 00:33:26

sort of like a celebration night.

00:33:27--> 00:33:29

And some even said it was.

00:33:31--> 00:33:33

It was the night of the drink.

00:33:34--> 00:33:36

Right? Because that's when you get the pink

00:33:36--> 00:33:36

drink.

00:33:37--> 00:33:39

Right? But not recognizing

00:33:40--> 00:33:42

the power of this night.

00:33:43--> 00:33:45

And this is what escapes a lot of

00:33:45--> 00:33:45

people,

00:33:46--> 00:33:47

the power of this night.

00:33:48--> 00:33:49

Okay?

00:33:49--> 00:33:51

And what misses a lot of people miss

00:33:51--> 00:33:52

and

00:33:52--> 00:33:54

then they're there and then you

00:33:54--> 00:33:57

and finish the month is month is not

00:33:57--> 00:33:57

over.

00:33:59--> 00:34:00

Saturday Sunday,

00:34:01--> 00:34:01

April 7th,

00:34:02--> 00:34:04

could be the 29th night.

00:34:05--> 00:34:07

So after the 27th is over, the

00:34:08--> 00:34:10

is drunk and everybody's gone.

00:34:11--> 00:34:12

There's angels

00:34:13--> 00:34:14

coming down, prayers

00:34:15--> 00:34:16

answered,

00:34:16--> 00:34:18

and some people might think

00:34:18--> 00:34:19

it's over. It's not over.

00:34:21--> 00:34:22

It's not over to the end.

00:34:23--> 00:34:24

Okay?

00:34:24--> 00:34:26

So this is,

00:34:27--> 00:34:27

and

00:34:29--> 00:34:30

very important.

00:34:30--> 00:34:32

So I wanna open up the floor for

00:34:32--> 00:34:33

any questions.

00:34:34--> 00:34:36

Tajmed online, are there are there any questions

00:34:36--> 00:34:36

there?

00:34:38--> 00:34:39

Flow is open. Yeah. So

00:34:40--> 00:34:42

in in a earlier slide,

00:34:42--> 00:34:44

there was the you mentioned,

00:34:49--> 00:34:49

Right.

00:34:50--> 00:34:53

So, like, how how much category of sin

00:34:53--> 00:34:55

does that stand over? Something

00:34:56--> 00:34:57

Yeah. For instance,

00:34:57--> 00:34:59

for for most of from what I've read

00:34:59--> 00:35:01

from some, let's say, who is, like, maybe

00:35:01--> 00:35:03

gone a year without pain or slob, The

00:35:03--> 00:35:04

only way they

00:35:04--> 00:35:06

could gain redemption for that is, number 1,

00:35:06--> 00:35:09

making tovah and then making up those prayers

00:35:09--> 00:35:11

to be forgiven. Right. And another example is

00:35:11--> 00:35:13

someone who's maybe a reverse being harmed.

00:35:14--> 00:35:16

So if someone who seeks forgiveness on this

00:35:16--> 00:35:18

life or things like that, are they also

00:35:19--> 00:35:20

Well, you know, again, and I think we

00:35:20--> 00:35:23

had discussed it before. But remember, in Tobar

00:35:23--> 00:35:24

itself in repentance,

00:35:25--> 00:35:29

there is recognizing the sin, asking for forgiveness,

00:35:29--> 00:35:32

making the attention not to return,

00:35:32--> 00:35:34

but there's another part that's called

00:35:36--> 00:35:36

Reparations.

00:35:39--> 00:35:40

Is a very important concept.

00:35:42--> 00:35:44

Not only on individual level, international level. Right?

00:35:45--> 00:35:47

Because countries say we did this and we

00:35:47--> 00:35:48

did we're sorry for slavery.

00:35:49--> 00:35:51

We're sorry for this. No. You gotta compensate

00:35:51--> 00:35:52

the people. Right?

00:35:53--> 00:35:55

You're not really sorry until you compensate.

00:35:55--> 00:35:57

On an individual level,

00:35:57--> 00:35:59

if the person missed a lot

00:36:00--> 00:36:01

and then got forgiveness

00:36:02--> 00:36:04

or the prayer, they still need to be

00:36:04--> 00:36:05

making up the salats.

00:36:07--> 00:36:09

They still if they owed money, they still

00:36:09--> 00:36:10

need to pay that money.

00:36:12--> 00:36:15

Okay. What whatever it is, there's different ways

00:36:15--> 00:36:16

of compensating.

00:36:17--> 00:36:20

Okay. It's it's sometimes it's not so clear

00:36:20--> 00:36:22

how to, but you gotta you gotta compensate.

00:36:23--> 00:36:25

So the forgiveness is there, but to get

00:36:25--> 00:36:27

the completion completion,

00:36:27--> 00:36:29

then it needs to have,

00:36:29--> 00:36:30

you know, compensation.

00:36:41--> 00:36:44

Well, again, we believe that Allah is most

00:36:44--> 00:36:44

merciful.

00:36:45--> 00:36:46

And and you know the the the key

00:36:46--> 00:36:49

thing is your your sincerity,

00:36:49--> 00:36:52

your intention, and you try to do what

00:36:52--> 00:36:52

is right.

00:36:53--> 00:36:55

And and the tofik, the success,

00:36:56--> 00:36:58

you know, the the acceptance is with Allah.

00:37:00--> 00:37:02

And, you know, we keep it like that

00:37:02--> 00:37:04

and because we're all sinners, we're all making

00:37:04--> 00:37:04

mistakes,

00:37:05--> 00:37:06

and and and and we just try our

00:37:06--> 00:37:07

best.

00:37:08--> 00:37:11

Any other general questions, about labeling collect? Question.

00:37:12--> 00:37:14

Coming into, you know, 1st and talking about

00:37:14--> 00:37:16

you just coming down and and, I guess,

00:37:17--> 00:37:18

maybe decrease.

00:37:18--> 00:37:20

Because I've also heard that in the night

00:37:20--> 00:37:20

of power,

00:37:21--> 00:37:22

there is a possibility of when you need

00:37:22--> 00:37:26

to while your your destiny can change. Yeah.

00:37:26--> 00:37:27

So can you just tell a little bit

00:37:27--> 00:37:28

more about that? Yeah. Well, that there is

00:37:28--> 00:37:30

you know, I mean, this is going back

00:37:30--> 00:37:32

to the concept of Qadar itself, Qadar and

00:37:32--> 00:37:32

Qadar.

00:37:33--> 00:37:35

And there are certain things that will that

00:37:35--> 00:37:37

cannot that will not change. When you're born

00:37:37--> 00:37:39

and when you die,

00:37:39--> 00:37:41

this is not gonna change.

00:37:41--> 00:37:43

But there are other aspects,

00:37:44--> 00:37:47

you know, where some change can happen.

00:37:47--> 00:37:48

And Allah tells us

00:37:51--> 00:37:52

Allah

00:37:52--> 00:37:55

erases what he pleases and he

00:37:55--> 00:37:56

consolidates.

00:37:57--> 00:37:58

So there is

00:37:58--> 00:38:00

some things can be erased

00:38:01--> 00:38:02

from your cutter.

00:38:03--> 00:38:05

Okay? But not the time when you're gonna

00:38:05--> 00:38:05

die.

00:38:06--> 00:38:06

That's

00:38:07--> 00:38:09

written. But there's some things that can be,

00:38:09--> 00:38:11

you know, erased. So that's another reason why

00:38:11--> 00:38:13

we're making this prayers.

00:38:14--> 00:38:16

Okay? And and and that's really important for

00:38:16--> 00:38:17

us,

00:38:18--> 00:38:19

you know, to make it.

00:38:20--> 00:38:21

Any questions

00:38:21--> 00:38:22

on this side? Yeah?

00:38:25--> 00:38:26

No.

00:38:36--> 00:38:39

It would just be minor things other than,

00:38:39--> 00:38:40

you know, the major things of the other

00:38:40--> 00:38:41

itself.

00:38:42--> 00:38:43

Yeah. We we don't wanna go too deep

00:38:43--> 00:38:45

into this. This is a top other is

00:38:45--> 00:38:46

a big,

00:38:46--> 00:38:48

you know, area. Right?

00:38:50--> 00:38:52

So we had touched on it, but, yeah,

00:38:52--> 00:38:53

at this point,

00:38:54--> 00:38:56

you know, the minor things other than the

00:38:56--> 00:38:57

major,

00:38:57--> 00:38:58

issues.

00:38:58--> 00:39:00

So we're gonna go on so we can

00:39:00--> 00:39:01

complete, you know, and and open up the

00:39:01--> 00:39:02

question.

00:39:02--> 00:39:04

So now we're going through the month.

00:39:05--> 00:39:07

And, since this is our last class,

00:39:08--> 00:39:11

because next week, Sunday, you know, could be

00:39:11--> 00:39:12

also the night of power,

00:39:13--> 00:39:14

and people are busy on these nights and

00:39:14--> 00:39:17

everything. So we decided that, you know, next

00:39:17--> 00:39:18

Sunday, we would not have the class.

00:39:19--> 00:39:20

You know. And,

00:39:20--> 00:39:22

if anything goes on, you know, during the

00:39:22--> 00:39:24

Eid or after it, you know, we'll we'll

00:39:24--> 00:39:26

inform everybody. Everybody should be on the WhatsApp

00:39:26--> 00:39:28

group and, you know, whatnot. We'll let you

00:39:28--> 00:39:30

know if anything's gonna be happening.

00:39:30--> 00:39:31

So

00:39:31--> 00:39:32

we're now, inshallah,

00:39:33--> 00:39:34

going to the end of the month.

00:39:36--> 00:39:36

And,

00:39:37--> 00:39:39

then we reach the Eid, Eid al Fitr.

00:39:40--> 00:39:41

So this is the celebration

00:39:42--> 00:39:42

of

00:39:43--> 00:39:44

fast breaking.

00:39:44--> 00:39:46

So this is literally with 2 eeds. We

00:39:46--> 00:39:46

have,

00:39:47--> 00:39:50

Eid al Fitr, Eid al Adha. There's another

00:39:50--> 00:39:51

one after the in the month of Adul

00:39:51--> 00:39:52

Hijjah,

00:39:52--> 00:39:54

the 10th of, and this is,

00:39:55--> 00:39:56

in the time of the Hajj, it's a,

00:39:56--> 00:39:57

you know, another month,

00:39:58--> 00:39:59

a festival of sacrifice.

00:40:00--> 00:40:02

Right? But this is the festival for the

00:40:02--> 00:40:03

fast breaking.

00:40:04--> 00:40:06

Okay? And it's strongly

00:40:06--> 00:40:06

recommended

00:40:07--> 00:40:10

and, you know, sunnah. It's a sunnah, though.

00:40:11--> 00:40:13

If for some reason the person couldn't make

00:40:13--> 00:40:14

it to the Eid,

00:40:15--> 00:40:17

you know, it's not a sin.

00:40:18--> 00:40:21

But they should try for the best of

00:40:21--> 00:40:22

their ability to go to salatulit.

00:40:23--> 00:40:26

It's really important to try to go to

00:40:26--> 00:40:27

make this prayer.

00:40:27--> 00:40:29

And especially it's all over the world, but

00:40:29--> 00:40:31

especially in this part of the world.

00:40:32--> 00:40:33

And

00:40:34--> 00:40:37

it begins with deciding of the the halal,

00:40:37--> 00:40:37

the first

00:40:38--> 00:40:39

crescent that comes,

00:40:39--> 00:40:40

you know, there,

00:40:41--> 00:40:43

then the new month because we're following a

00:40:43--> 00:40:44

loon lunar calendar.

00:40:45--> 00:40:47

So then with the new month, it's it's

00:40:47--> 00:40:48

really the first of Shawwal, which is the

00:40:48--> 00:40:49

next

00:40:49--> 00:40:52

month. So that would be the Eid day.

00:40:52--> 00:40:55

Okay? And all Muslims should attend. And the

00:40:55--> 00:40:56

prophet said,

00:40:56--> 00:40:59

all Muslims should attend Eid

00:41:00--> 00:41:04

regardless of your age or your gender, male,

00:41:04--> 00:41:05

female, young, old,

00:41:05--> 00:41:08

bring everybody out to this. He even, you

00:41:08--> 00:41:11

know, said if women are on their monthly

00:41:11--> 00:41:11

periods,

00:41:13--> 00:41:14

they they should come out.

00:41:15--> 00:41:17

But the only difference is is that when

00:41:17--> 00:41:19

the prayer is made, they would not be

00:41:19--> 00:41:20

obviously making prayer.

00:41:20--> 00:41:23

Right? But they should come. And in this

00:41:23--> 00:41:24

part of the world, you can see the

00:41:24--> 00:41:25

importance,

00:41:26--> 00:41:28

because, you know, you can feel the power

00:41:28--> 00:41:29

of the community.

00:41:30--> 00:41:31

It's the jamaah.

00:41:32--> 00:41:33

Islam is

00:41:33--> 00:41:35

it is a group religion,

00:41:36--> 00:41:38

and you need to feel

00:41:38--> 00:41:39

this,

00:41:40--> 00:41:40

group feeling.

00:41:42--> 00:41:44

And in the classical Muslim countries,

00:41:45--> 00:41:47

they would have a,

00:41:49--> 00:41:51

Idga, I think you say in in.

00:41:51--> 00:41:54

Right? A mussala. So for instance, one of

00:41:54--> 00:41:55

the places where you can still see these

00:41:55--> 00:41:57

things, like, we go to Morocco.

00:41:57--> 00:41:59

If you go to Morocco, and I go

00:41:59--> 00:42:00

there many times,

00:42:01--> 00:42:02

but especially in Marrakesh, if you go there,

00:42:02--> 00:42:04

you'll see it, because they have, like, a

00:42:04--> 00:42:06

walled city before.

00:42:06--> 00:42:08

Outside the wall,

00:42:09--> 00:42:11

you'll see a an open area,

00:42:11--> 00:42:13

and you'll see, like, one place

00:42:13--> 00:42:14

for the imam.

00:42:15--> 00:42:17

And then on e day, the whole city

00:42:17--> 00:42:18

comes out,

00:42:20--> 00:42:22

and they make the prayers together

00:42:23--> 00:42:24

in a Jama.

00:42:25--> 00:42:27

And and that is a very strong thing

00:42:27--> 00:42:29

for unity to it.

00:42:29--> 00:42:30

And it unifies,

00:42:31--> 00:42:34

everybody, and it's really important here because

00:42:34--> 00:42:35

we're

00:42:35--> 00:42:36

very much separated.

00:42:37--> 00:42:40

We don't have Muslim communities, like,

00:42:40--> 00:42:41

so much.

00:42:41--> 00:42:43

So this is important, especially for young people.

00:42:45--> 00:42:46

Young people need to see this

00:42:47--> 00:42:50

because, our young people are in danger with

00:42:50--> 00:42:51

their identity,

00:42:52--> 00:42:53

your Islamic identity,

00:42:55--> 00:42:56

and that needs to be strengthened. That's why

00:42:56--> 00:42:59

it's good for young people and families also

00:42:59--> 00:42:59

to travel.

00:43:01--> 00:43:03

If you if your family comes from a

00:43:03--> 00:43:04

Muslim country,

00:43:05--> 00:43:06

if you can go back to your country

00:43:06--> 00:43:07

if it's not in war or something like

00:43:07--> 00:43:09

this, if you can go back or go

00:43:09--> 00:43:12

to a Muslim country during Ramadan is really

00:43:12--> 00:43:13

good time

00:43:13--> 00:43:16

or for the Eid. Right? It's it's it's

00:43:16--> 00:43:19

young people travel, you know, to to catch

00:43:19--> 00:43:20

that group. So this is one of the

00:43:20--> 00:43:21

times

00:43:22--> 00:43:23

that is there.

00:43:24--> 00:43:25

And somebody might say, of course, we are

00:43:25--> 00:43:27

affected by our cultures,

00:43:28--> 00:43:31

and some people's cultures are different than others.

00:43:32--> 00:43:34

And I remember being in one country.

00:43:34--> 00:43:36

I don't wanna say which one it is,

00:43:37--> 00:43:38

but,

00:43:39--> 00:43:41

you know, the the the the women

00:43:42--> 00:43:44

at that time, they weren't coming out for

00:43:44--> 00:43:44

the eat.

00:43:45--> 00:43:47

And so we had group sessions, and then

00:43:47--> 00:43:48

we said, okay,

00:43:48--> 00:43:50

to the women, like, you know, Eid day,

00:43:51--> 00:43:53

where were you on Eid day?

00:43:54--> 00:43:55

And they said,

00:43:55--> 00:43:56

we're at home cooking

00:43:58--> 00:44:00

because the Eid meal

00:44:00--> 00:44:03

must be made. The samosa has gotta be

00:44:03--> 00:44:03

fresh.

00:44:05--> 00:44:07

Right? So you gotta have that meal. When

00:44:07--> 00:44:08

Abdul comes back,

00:44:10--> 00:44:12

he has to have his fresh samosas.

00:44:13--> 00:44:15

So she's cooking while the people are out

00:44:15--> 00:44:16

in the heat.

00:44:16--> 00:44:19

That's opposite the spirit of Islam.

00:44:20--> 00:44:21

And I'll give you an example. This is

00:44:21--> 00:44:22

a real situation

00:44:23--> 00:44:25

in our community because you're gonna hear counterarguments.

00:44:27--> 00:44:28

There was one Sudan brother

00:44:29--> 00:44:32

from the Sudan. He was a Dawa person

00:44:32--> 00:44:32

from the field,

00:44:33--> 00:44:35

and we were in this country, and then,

00:44:35--> 00:44:37

where they they this section of the country

00:44:37--> 00:44:39

where they're strong against, you know, woman coming

00:44:39--> 00:44:41

out to it. And then he he gave

00:44:41--> 00:44:43

the jummah, and he said, all sisters, women,

00:44:43--> 00:44:45

families come out to the eat.

00:44:47--> 00:44:50

Afterwards, a group of the so called Molanas

00:44:50--> 00:44:51

where they came around him,

00:44:52--> 00:44:54

and they said, did you say this?

00:44:55--> 00:44:56

You said this?

00:44:57--> 00:44:58

And he said, no. I didn't say it.

00:44:58--> 00:45:01

I didn't say it. Rasulullah SAWSAWA said it.

00:45:02--> 00:45:03

And he brought 20 Hadiths,

00:45:04--> 00:45:06

20 sayings of the prophet

00:45:07--> 00:45:09

where he was saying it. You know what

00:45:09--> 00:45:09

their counterargument

00:45:10--> 00:45:10

was?

00:45:11--> 00:45:12

You don't know our women.

00:45:14--> 00:45:15

They come to the aid,

00:45:15--> 00:45:18

and they have bangles, and it makes noise,

00:45:19--> 00:45:20

and they smell good,

00:45:22--> 00:45:23

and we can't

00:45:26--> 00:45:27

pray. That was their counterargument.

00:45:28--> 00:45:28

Right?

00:45:30--> 00:45:31

And so

00:45:31--> 00:45:33

but the line of the men is here,

00:45:34--> 00:45:36

right, facing the qibla,

00:45:36--> 00:45:38

and the women is there.

00:45:39--> 00:45:41

Okay? So if the if a noise is

00:45:41--> 00:45:42

going on,

00:45:43--> 00:45:44

what's your problem, man?

00:45:45--> 00:45:47

Is your Mecca

00:45:47--> 00:45:49

that way, or is it that way where

00:45:49--> 00:45:50

the sisters are?

00:45:52--> 00:45:53

You see?

00:45:54--> 00:45:55

Why are you being

00:45:55--> 00:45:57

they say, no. No. If they come put

00:45:57--> 00:45:58

a giant hijab

00:46:00--> 00:46:01

up, so we can't see.

00:46:02--> 00:46:04

But if they're in back of you,

00:46:05--> 00:46:06

right, why do you need a hijab? You

00:46:06--> 00:46:08

need a hijab on your eyes

00:46:09--> 00:46:11

because your is there,

00:46:12--> 00:46:13

not facing

00:46:14--> 00:46:15

Mecca. You see?

00:46:17--> 00:46:18

So for new Muslims,

00:46:19--> 00:46:22

you need to know your rights, especially women.

00:46:23--> 00:46:24

You need to know your rights.

00:46:25--> 00:46:25

Okay?

00:46:26--> 00:46:26

And

00:46:27--> 00:46:29

here in Toronto, because we are in an

00:46:29--> 00:46:31

urban area and whatever,

00:46:32--> 00:46:34

you have masjids, so the masjids will have

00:46:34--> 00:46:35

the Eid.

00:46:36--> 00:46:36

But

00:46:36--> 00:46:38

what we what some people do

00:46:39--> 00:46:40

back in the eighties nineties,

00:46:41--> 00:46:44

where we before the community got really, really

00:46:44--> 00:46:44

big,

00:46:45--> 00:46:48

we used to have the Eads in large,

00:46:49--> 00:46:50

you know, open areas,

00:46:51--> 00:46:53

or we would rent the

00:46:53--> 00:46:55

the places where they have the auto,

00:46:55--> 00:46:56

you know, exhibitions

00:46:57--> 00:46:58

exhibition center.

00:46:59--> 00:47:01

You know, one time we even rented part

00:47:01--> 00:47:02

of the Skydome,

00:47:04--> 00:47:05

and that's what we wanted.

00:47:06--> 00:47:08

We wanted to gather everybody together.

00:47:09--> 00:47:11

That's what we should do and take over

00:47:11--> 00:47:12

the sky dome

00:47:13--> 00:47:16

and have all the Muslims pray, you know,

00:47:16--> 00:47:18

inside of there in the sky dome.

00:47:18--> 00:47:20

Right? But, of course, we have issues

00:47:21--> 00:47:23

because how did the traffic and then the

00:47:23--> 00:47:26

timing because the Eid is generally is early

00:47:26--> 00:47:27

in the morning, you know, after, you know,

00:47:27--> 00:47:29

you know, the fajr is is at the

00:47:29--> 00:47:30

prayer morning prayer.

00:47:31--> 00:47:31

And,

00:47:32--> 00:47:32

so

00:47:33--> 00:47:35

people will do the Eids

00:47:36--> 00:47:36

and,

00:47:38--> 00:47:40

different masjids will do it.

00:47:41--> 00:47:42

What are the etiquettes,

00:47:44--> 00:47:45

of the Eid?

00:47:47--> 00:47:48

Once it is declared,

00:47:50--> 00:47:51

then the takbeer.

00:47:52--> 00:47:53

It is the takbeer.

00:47:53--> 00:47:56

So that's in the evening. Remember, Eid starts

00:47:56--> 00:47:57

in the night. Right?

00:47:58--> 00:48:00

So once the moon is sighted,

00:48:01--> 00:48:02

then,

00:48:03--> 00:48:05

you know, it's the evening. It's it's started.

00:48:06--> 00:48:09

So the tech BA begins after the prayers

00:48:10--> 00:48:11

or as much as you possibly can,

00:48:12--> 00:48:13

and that is saying,

00:48:22--> 00:48:24

So you gotta hear that over and over

00:48:24--> 00:48:24

again. Right?

00:48:25--> 00:48:27

So you hear people saying that.

00:48:28--> 00:48:29

And when you're in a Muslim society, it's

00:48:29--> 00:48:31

a beautiful thing because

00:48:31--> 00:48:33

as the people are going to the Eid,

00:48:34--> 00:48:36

you're hearing it all over the place, and

00:48:36--> 00:48:38

people are walking through the streets and they're

00:48:38--> 00:48:39

saying it and,

00:48:39--> 00:48:41

you know, that that's what the group spirit

00:48:41--> 00:48:42

is. Right?

00:48:42--> 00:48:45

It's a group spirit is of that time.

00:48:45--> 00:48:46

And,

00:48:46--> 00:48:47

it is recommended

00:48:49--> 00:48:50

that after your morning prayers,

00:48:52--> 00:48:53

we're in a habit of fasting. Right?

00:48:54--> 00:48:56

So you should break your fast.

00:48:57--> 00:48:58

So take a light meal,

00:48:59--> 00:49:00

even if it's just a date or something,

00:49:00--> 00:49:02

but take a light meal,

00:49:02--> 00:49:04

yeah, and then go out to the eat.

00:49:05--> 00:49:06

And you prepare yourself,

00:49:07--> 00:49:09

you know, wear nice clothes and whatever like

00:49:09--> 00:49:10

you do at Juma,

00:49:10--> 00:49:12

you know, your your occasions and, you know,

00:49:12--> 00:49:13

come out to the eat.

00:49:14--> 00:49:15

You know, and,

00:49:16--> 00:49:18

it's a time of celebration.

00:49:20--> 00:49:22

We greet each other, try to greet everybody

00:49:23--> 00:49:24

that you possibly can.

00:49:24--> 00:49:26

There's a tendency to for people to greet

00:49:27--> 00:49:29

only their family or their cousins or people

00:49:29--> 00:49:30

who look like them,

00:49:30--> 00:49:32

you know, but, you know, greet all Muslims,

00:49:34--> 00:49:34

that you can,

00:49:35--> 00:49:36

on this time.

00:49:36--> 00:49:38

And it's an important time also

00:49:40--> 00:49:42

if a person's working unless it's a crucial

00:49:42--> 00:49:45

type of job, take the day off.

00:49:46--> 00:49:49

Because, look, Good Friday is a statutory holiday.

00:49:49--> 00:49:50

Right?

00:49:50--> 00:49:52

So it's Good Friday.

00:49:52--> 00:49:56

Every Friday is good. Okay. But now

00:49:56--> 00:49:59

this should be our statutory holiday.

00:50:00--> 00:50:02

Take the day off. The children should remember,

00:50:02--> 00:50:03

eat.

00:50:04--> 00:50:05

They should remember it.

00:50:07--> 00:50:09

Even you can decorate your house, you can,

00:50:09--> 00:50:11

you know, have gifts for the children.

00:50:12--> 00:50:14

You don't need a Christmas tree and, you

00:50:14--> 00:50:16

know, like, we're not. But it it's a

00:50:16--> 00:50:18

good practice to give them gifts.

00:50:19--> 00:50:21

And that helps in this society because their

00:50:21--> 00:50:23

Christian friends are getting presents in Christmas. Right?

00:50:24--> 00:50:25

And we don't believe in Christmas.

00:50:27--> 00:50:29

Right? And so give them gifts,

00:50:32--> 00:50:34

you know, visit family. It's important to visit

00:50:34--> 00:50:35

family,

00:50:35--> 00:50:36

visit friends,

00:50:37--> 00:50:38

you know, whatever.

00:50:38--> 00:50:39

These are the things,

00:50:40--> 00:50:42

that is done. But, also, I added there

00:50:42--> 00:50:44

that Eid is a time of remembrance and

00:50:44--> 00:50:44

solidarity.

00:50:45--> 00:50:47

So we cannot forget what is happening in

00:50:47--> 00:50:48

in Palestine

00:50:49--> 00:50:50

and in Sudan

00:50:50--> 00:50:52

and amongst the Rohingya Muslims

00:50:52--> 00:50:55

in Mainama and other places where Muslims are

00:50:55--> 00:50:55

suffering.

00:50:56--> 00:50:57

Can't forget it.

00:50:58--> 00:51:01

It is a victory for us, and it's

00:51:01--> 00:51:02

okay to be have joy.

00:51:03--> 00:51:06

Right? But that joy needs to be converted

00:51:06--> 00:51:07

into energy,

00:51:07--> 00:51:09

you know, to assist our brothers and sisters

00:51:09--> 00:51:10

who are under the gun

00:51:11--> 00:51:12

and those who are in need.

00:51:13--> 00:51:15

Okay? So all of these things happen,

00:51:15--> 00:51:16

you know,

00:51:16--> 00:51:18

on, the Eid day,

00:51:18--> 00:51:20

and this is our occasions. This is our

00:51:20--> 00:51:21

special occasions.

00:51:21--> 00:51:23

2 of them are the main ones that

00:51:23--> 00:51:24

we have,

00:51:24--> 00:51:27

during the Muslim year from the sunnah.

00:51:27--> 00:51:29

K? So floor is open for any questions,

00:51:29--> 00:51:31

about the Eid,

00:51:32--> 00:51:33

Eid day, Eid salat,

00:51:34--> 00:51:35

whatnot.

00:51:37--> 00:51:39

The story you mentioned about

00:51:40--> 00:51:41

those

00:51:41--> 00:51:44

and your response was whatever it was,

00:51:44--> 00:51:47

what was the counter to that? And, like,

00:51:47--> 00:51:49

in today, how how do you counter like,

00:51:49--> 00:51:52

if if you have fellow members who are

00:51:52--> 00:51:54

of that opinion, how do you counter? The

00:51:54--> 00:51:56

own the best way, like, that's Sudanese brother

00:51:56--> 00:51:58

did. He said, bring the Hadiths, man.

00:51:59--> 00:52:00

The prophet

00:52:00--> 00:52:03

is saying over and over again, everybody come

00:52:03--> 00:52:03

out.

00:52:04--> 00:52:07

Everybody come out. They say the word they

00:52:07--> 00:52:08

use is fitna,

00:52:09--> 00:52:11

and fitna is a trial and a tribulation.

00:52:11--> 00:52:13

But when you really analyze it, what's your

00:52:13--> 00:52:13

fitna?

00:52:15--> 00:52:16

What really is the problem?

00:52:18--> 00:52:20

Where's the fitna? You're driving in a car.

00:52:21--> 00:52:23

You go to the place. She goes in

00:52:23--> 00:52:24

the sister's area.

00:52:25--> 00:52:26

They have to eat, whatever, then she gets

00:52:26--> 00:52:28

back in the car. Where's the fitna?

00:52:30--> 00:52:31

You see?

00:52:31--> 00:52:32

But, unfortunately,

00:52:34--> 00:52:36

many Muslims are more affected by their culture

00:52:37--> 00:52:39

than they are by the actual religion.

00:52:40--> 00:52:41

That's why the new Muslims, you gotta know

00:52:41--> 00:52:43

what the religion is, not the culture.

00:52:44--> 00:52:47

Because sometimes you get caught up in people's

00:52:47--> 00:52:47

cultures

00:52:48--> 00:52:51

and and and don't realize that's not actually

00:52:51--> 00:52:52

the faith.

00:52:53--> 00:52:55

It's not actually the faith. So you need

00:52:55--> 00:52:57

to know, you know, what it is and

00:52:57--> 00:52:59

pray, you know, for these brothers and sisters.

00:52:59--> 00:53:01

If they don't come out, it's not a

00:53:01--> 00:53:01

sin

00:53:02--> 00:53:03

because Eid is sunnah,

00:53:04--> 00:53:05

highly recommended,

00:53:06--> 00:53:07

but they're missing out something.

00:53:07--> 00:53:09

The best way is to show them the

00:53:09--> 00:53:11

traditions. This is the way of the prophet

00:53:11--> 00:53:12

sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. This is Islam.

00:53:13--> 00:53:14

That's what it should be and show them

00:53:14--> 00:53:17

what it is. You know? And then show

00:53:17--> 00:53:18

them that other Muslims,

00:53:19--> 00:53:20

you know, are doing it and and and

00:53:20--> 00:53:22

pray for, you know, our brothers and sisters

00:53:22--> 00:53:23

to help them out of this

00:53:24--> 00:53:25

cultural Islam.

00:53:26--> 00:53:27

So, you know,

00:53:38--> 00:53:39

They use that as

00:53:40--> 00:53:42

their arguments. That's why they call it.

00:53:43--> 00:53:44

Yeah. Well, you know, I mean, this goes

00:53:44--> 00:53:46

into we don't have time now, but this

00:53:46--> 00:53:47

goes into a lot of thing. That fit

00:53:47--> 00:53:49

no. A lot of it is not females

00:53:49--> 00:53:50

doing it.

00:53:50--> 00:53:52

It's young males hanging out on the corner.

00:53:52--> 00:53:53

Right?

00:53:54--> 00:53:56

So it's not females necessarily doing that. They

00:53:56--> 00:53:58

put the onus on the women.

00:53:58--> 00:54:01

Right? When, you know, generally, the fitness is

00:54:01--> 00:54:02

coming from the men.

00:54:03--> 00:54:03

Okay?

00:54:05--> 00:54:06

So,

00:54:06--> 00:54:07

you know, may

00:54:08--> 00:54:10

Allah accept, you know, your Eid. You know,

00:54:10--> 00:54:11

I put that picture there of the Dome

00:54:11--> 00:54:13

of the Rock. Don't forget,

00:54:13--> 00:54:14

Philistine.

00:54:14--> 00:54:15

Right?

00:54:16--> 00:54:18

And may Allah accept your Ramadan and your

00:54:18--> 00:54:19

fasting and everything.

00:54:20--> 00:54:23

Tonight, inshallah, we'll be going right downstairs.

00:54:23--> 00:54:25

This time, we're gonna break our fast downstairs.

00:54:26--> 00:54:27

Right? And then following that, we will come

00:54:27--> 00:54:30

up inshallah and have the time. And we

00:54:30--> 00:54:31

will be in touch with you. Are there

00:54:31--> 00:54:33

any other questions that anybody has before we

00:54:33--> 00:54:33

end here?

00:54:34--> 00:54:36

You know how a lot of people make

00:54:36--> 00:54:37

a big deal about their

00:54:39--> 00:54:40

Where does that come from?

00:54:40--> 00:54:43

This is a cultural thing. Okay. Yeah. You

00:54:43--> 00:54:45

know you know and again, it's following the

00:54:45--> 00:54:47

Christians and the Jews. I mean, I'm coming

00:54:47--> 00:54:49

out of a Christian, you know, background in

00:54:49--> 00:54:50

society. Right?

00:54:50--> 00:54:51

On Sunday,

00:54:51--> 00:54:54

this was, you know, today, we you used

00:54:54--> 00:54:55

to wear Sunday clothes.

00:54:55--> 00:54:56

Easter Sunday.

00:54:57--> 00:54:58

So you dress

00:54:59--> 00:55:01

up. So it's like following the other societies.

00:55:02--> 00:55:03

The sunnah is though when you go to

00:55:03--> 00:55:05

the masjid, you go to our gathering, wear

00:55:05--> 00:55:06

your best clothes.

00:55:08--> 00:55:09

You you do wear your best clothes, you

00:55:09--> 00:55:10

clean up.

00:55:10--> 00:55:12

You know, you wear your, you know, your

00:55:12--> 00:55:13

best clothes.

00:55:14--> 00:55:16

And, you know, this is the way of

00:55:16--> 00:55:17

Islam.

00:55:17--> 00:55:19

Sheikh, we're not actually gonna go downstairs, but

00:55:19--> 00:55:21

we do have something that we need

00:55:23--> 00:55:25

Okay. So so, Tahmid, so we're gonna end,

00:55:25--> 00:55:27

you know, the class, Lear.

00:55:29--> 00:55:31

Have a safe journey home and Eid Mubarak,

00:55:31--> 00:55:32

you know, who's online.

00:55:31--> 00:55:32

you know, who's online.
